Beginner Surf Lessons
Our beginner surf lessons camp is open to everyone irrespective of athletic ability or previous surfing experience. You don’t have to be a super athlete, you just have to have a positive attitude and the will to learn. You’ll be spending time on the beach having fun with a group of open-minded individuals, what’s not to like!? You don’t have anything to worry about, as your transport wetsuit, board hire and lunch are all included with the lesson.
Safety comes first at our beginner surf lessons—all our beginner’s lessons held in waist-deep waters with our expert instructor’s proximity. You will gradually introduce to the water at your own pace without pressure or any expectations. Group sizes kept small to give all our surfers sufficient contact with our instructors.
As with anything in life, all of our students learn at a different pace – it mostly depends on fitness and natural balancing ability. Regardless, no matter your ability, everyone has a very enjoyable time learning with us.
Beginner Surf Lessons – Course Details

Our approachable and professional surf instructors trained to teach the basics first; How to paddle, catch a wave, how waves function, and how to stand up.
The safety of everyone in our lessons is always of paramount concern. Lessons begin with a dynamic yoga warm-up on the sand to ensure your muscles are properly stretched to prevent injury. Our instructors will go over how to stay safe while in the water as well as surfing etiquette. Our instructors will be watching you closely, ready to jump in should you need help.
There is a lot more required to master surfing than many people think. Our qualified and experienced instructors will teach you the tips and tricks they used to master the sport in a safe and supportive environment. We offer five or 10-day courses for those that are serious about mastering the basic techniques.
Beginner Surf Lessons – Instructors
All of our surf instructors highly-skilled, friendly, passionate about teaching. And certified by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) and the International Surfing Association (ISA).
Groups kept small, with a maximum of 8 surf students per instructor. This ensures more direct contact with the instructor for each surfer and adheres to the ISA recommendation.
Beginner Surf Lessons – Equipment
Surfboards: Soft surfboards with soft fins always used for beginner lessons to avoid injury. In order to protect yourself from your board dragged around by the waves when you fall off, we use extra-long leashes.
Wetsuits: wetsuits are a must when surfing. Our premium wetsuits from Quicksilver, Roxy, and Xcel will protect you from the sun, sea, and your board.
Top tip: The weather is beautiful year-round with strong sun and high temperatures. As you would when sunbathing, we recommend using a high-factor sunscreen to protect your exposed skin. Luckily, we always have some available in our surf shop should you forget yours.
Half-day lessons are also available.
If you’ve signed up for a full-day lesson, we can arrange hotel pick-up and drop-off for free if you aren’t staying with us in Famara. Call us when booking to have this arranged.
Medical insurance also included.
